In today’s world, why people want their children to be
educated? At the first instant this question seems to be childish and some will
say that the answer is obvious. Most of the people reply in this manner that
“If my child will get good education he/she will get a good job and then he/she
can earn more money”.I am not saying that everybody will reply same because
some people are stupid like me who will say”If my child will get education then
he/she will get respect in society and then he/she will spend their life
peacefully and in the right manner”.These are the two opposite reasons you can
listen in today’s society.I am not criticising any one type of parent because
at least they want their children to be educated...which is better.Today when a
child is born then the first thing parent decide for them is that what they are
going to be in future, many decides that earlier then birth.Planning is good thing but think that a poor child has
just born and you are deciding the most important part of his/her future. We
should wait until children grow up and
decide themselves that what they are going to be.
In today’s world everyone is running after the trends,as i
see when a person sees something is trending on twitter or Google+ then they
start tweeting or posting that particular topic irrelevantly ...just to be a
trendier. In other fields trending has no real harm but when this trending is
done in education that can cause a great loss and harm.In early 2002 my country
Pakistan witnessed a trend when everybody wanted to study Information
technology (when son of that time education minister completed his degree in
Information Technology),in the end after two to three years there were many of
the students struggled to get job because of overloading of students studying
Information technology. After that the trend rises of B.Com , and today 1 out of
4 literate person in Pakistan are Bachelor of commerce , at last the same result
came that many people....no jobs.Right now the trend is of Engineering and Medical.
First have a look at the following statistics.
Statistics of medical colleges |
These are the statistics of recognised medical colleges in Pakistan.
First thing that if at an average of 100 students studies in a college then
after few years ,we will have 8900 students will pass the medical , will we
have the opportunities of jobs for them??While today in my country we are
suffering from overdose of doctors and medical staff, they are working but are
not paid regularly. So today if you choose to study medical then make up your
mind that getting a job will not be a easy task.Same story is with the
engineering, 12 engineering universities
in Islamabad,33 in Punjab ,13 in KPK,16 in Sindh and 2 in Baluchistan so a
total of 76 universities in Pakistan , so at an average of just 100 students
per university we will see7600 engineers add to recent society of engineers
,will they get job ???
Doctors Protesting |
My point of view is that if you are studying because you are
interested then there is no problem but commonly today people study just to get
job then engineering and medical are not the only options and they do not
assure you a easy passage to job and money...there are many other fields.Like journalism
, Masters in a subject ,forensics , law even actors , cricketers are earning
more than the doctors and engineers, so choose wisely.
But what i really want to say is that the education should
be studied for knowledge not for money making ,because a donkey also earns by
just pulling the load the thing which will make you superior then the animal is
the education otherwise you can also earn like monkey by only jumping and
acting around people. So dear readers education is much more than engineering ,
medical and money making.
Gud post... u must write on the money making attitude of the private schools ...they r actually spoiling our society..
ReplyDeleteThank you. InshaAllah i will try to write on that because it is one the reason why our education is not growing the way it should be.
DeleteNice reflection..agree that there's more out there than "trendy" ...
ReplyDeletethank you , as soon as people stop following these trends ,the equilibrium among jobs will be stable again.
DeleteYes you are right and we must straggle for the success
ReplyDeleteThis is a scary, interesting problem. On the one hand, we are complaining bitterly about the cost of medical care, but on the other hand, we are driving costs up with educational requirements that hardly seem necessary. Those are the "guilds" at work and designed as a barrier to entry.
ReplyDeleteYes, certainly it is very scary and needs to be solved very quickly.
